Community Helpers 1

The theme and target vocabulary are introduced in the anchor story written with limited vocabulary and repeated lines.   Mayer-Johnson PCS® and SymbolStix® symbols provide visual support.

Extension Activities

Language enjoyment and literacy development are encouraged through use of a songboard, word cards and vocabulary games.  Sensory exploration and ideas for expanding language opportunities include cooking, crafts and math.

Computer Story

An interactive computer book (requires Adobe Flash Player) combines text, pictures, speech and sound in an engaging presentation.  Students can read the story independently with a mouse, touch window or switch.
